This month, on Saturday, March 21st, I will be at the Maker Faire SA at the Central Library, 600 Soledad, San Antonio, TX. I will be “Sewing In Public” (SIP) with you. We will begin a new community quilt made from scraps and strips with no plan in mind. It’s called improv. Yes, and…
SIP is my outreach project. Sewing can be very solitary which is good, but by sewing in public, I get to hear your stories and show you how a quilt is made.
Maybe your Mother or Grandmother or Aunt is a quiltmaker. Maybe you know an artist that uses fabric to make his art. Maybe you would like to try putting all the beautiful colors together and then have something warm and beautiful that you made yourself!
There will be lots of other DIY people there, too, so you can explore all you want. Stop by and tell me your story and pull a scrap from the bag to add to the quilt. I look forward to seeing you!.
Looks great! I need a featherweight and to live closer to you!
Yes, indeed, Buddy, that would be fun.
We’ll make do with the internet.
I look forward to Houston in the Fall and visiting your new studio someday.
